Photo Friday: Marriage, Italian Style

Now this is some wedding celebration! These photos are a few years old, but I remember this day very well.

I was making my way down from our apartment in the Gianicolo (Janiculum) neighborhood of Rome when I spotted this dapper duo. And if you've been to this particular spot, you'll know this is one of the best panoramic views in town - the spectacular Fontana di Paola behind you, the billowing flags of the Spanish embassy to your right, and the whole of the Eternal City spread out before you. C'est magnifique!

And that is one fancy gown! Well, and one fancy horse-drawn carriage while we're at it...And while I don't think I'll be sashaying about in anything quite so poofy, we are indeed on the second-round of planning for our religious ceremony in Rome.

One down, one to go folks! I'm duly in the process of writing a sub-blog tentatively called: How to Plan Your International Wedding on 4 Glasses of Vino a Day. Or, alternatively, 4 Bars of Chocolate...hey, I guess it's not so bad after all...

A big ciao from Provence & buon weekend a tutti

  1. Looks like a beautiful spot to have your wedding. Good luck as you do your planning. I am sure the vino and chocolates will make the process be far less stressful. Have a great weekend. A bientot.

  2. Ah, April fools on me...when I saw this title I thought it was for your wedding :-). The photos are magnifique, just like a wedding in Rome should be. I'm so looking forward to your post and think you might need both the chocolate and the vino to deal with it the planning. Buon Weekend!

  4. That's a whole lotta skirt on that dress! It looks like a grand spot for a wedding though and all that sun and blue sky.

  6. Thanks Michel, the wine does help a lot, bon weekend to you!

I know Kathy, what a fairy tale wedding this bride had, so fun! Hope my photos will be half as lovely :)

Sorry about the April Fools Margo, was trying to be a little cheeky with the title, he he.

Tanya & Corrine, that is a whole lotta dress, might be tricky to move about in, but what a show-stopper!
